Mining training for operators, technicians and small-scale miners

We train the people who run mines. Courses take place at our Freetown workshop and on active sites, taught by the engineers and operators who run our own operations. Every participant leaves with a certificate and hands-on hours on real equipment.

Mine safety fundamentals

Hazard identification, pit wall stability, water and electrical safety, first aid, emergency response.

Wash plant operation

Feed control, water balance, sluice cleaning, gold room procedures, daily reconciliation.

Excavator and loader operation

Machine controls, digging technique, loading, daily checks and safe working near people.

Plant maintenance

[5] days

Preventive maintenance, welding basics, pump and diesel engine service, spare-part management.

Geology and sampling basics

[3] days

Reading a deposit, pitting and sampling protocols, keeping records that a geologist can use.

Small-scale mining programme

[5] days

Combined course for cooperatives: safety, mercury-free recovery, licensing and selling legally.

    We look at your site, equipment and crew and propose the right course mix.

    Schedule

    Fixed dates in Freetown or a delivery week on your site.

    Course

    Theory in the morning, practice on equipment in the afternoon. Small groups of [8 to 12].

    Assessment and certificate

    Practical assessment on the last day. Certificate per participant, records kept for your compliance file.

Frequently asked questions

Are the certificates recognised?

Certificates are issued by Starlight Minerals and document course content, hours and assessment results. They are accepted by [partner mining companies] as proof of training. We are working on accreditation with [the National Minerals Agency].

What languages are courses taught in?

English and Krio. Other local languages on request with an interpreter.

What does a course cost?

Public courses in Freetown from [USD 150] per participant and day, including materials and lunch. On-site delivery is quoted per programme.

Can you train our crew on our own equipment?

Yes. Most company programmes are delivered on site with the equipment your crew uses every day.
